Kodak Goes Bankrupt
Being the son and grandson (and nephew, and cousin) of a Kodak family, I had thought about posting my thoughts on EK’s bankruptcy filing last night. However, Patrice Walsh over at Channel 13 did better than I ever could in this article posted today. I think a lot of us in Rochester can relate to the memories she’s talking about.
I have very fond memories of my time as a college student working in Buildings 326 and 313 in Kodak Park. I was and still am proud to say I worked there.
Hopefully as time passes we can look back on today not as the end for a once-great company, but as the beginning of a great comeback story. It has been done before. Take for example a small computer company called Apple.
Mail Room Mix Up
I’ll go so far as to call this shocking. As seen in the New York Times, a man was almost put to death due to a mix up in the mail room at the law firm represnting him on his appeal.
Here is the United States Supreme Court’s decision in the case.
Reasonable minds can disagree over the use of the death penalty in our country. However it’s hard to argue that an inmate should be denied his full due process rights due to a simple clerical error.
Currently, the death penalty is not in use here in New York State, pursuant to the 2004 Court of Appeals decision in People v. LaValle.
Settling in…
Things are really shaping up in the office. This really is a very neat old building, with lots of art deco-style architectural cues and a beautiful marble lobby. The Times Square Building has a very interesting history, as you can see from this RocWiki article.
And now for a few photos of how things are coming along. And a shout-out to the folks at Creative Plastics for the nice work on the door and directory strip in the lobby.
D&C Article – Fallen Five Land
Gary Craig posted a follow up article to the fallen five prosecutors. As you can see, Matthew J. Rich has moved on and is On Your Side.

Arrested?
Found a very interesting link courtesy of one of Rochester’s best journalists, Channel 13’s Rachel Barnhart. You should consider following her on Twitter at @rachbarnhart and checking out her blog at http://therochesterian.com/
Anyhow here is the link to a New York Times story regarding the potential future consequences of even an arrest, let alone a conviction. The bottom line is that if you find yourself in such a situation you need competent legal representation to ensure that future problems can be minimized or avoided altogether.
